Punjab Housing and Urban Development Minister Bilal Yasin has directed authorities to finalise a grand beautification and cultural plan for the upcoming Basant Festival.
Under the supervision of the Parks and Horticulture Authority, major roads, entry points and heritage sites across Lahore will be decorated with themed floats, vibrant lighting and floral displays to highlight the city’s traditional heritage.
The minister chaired a meeting on Wednesday and received a detailed briefing from PHA Director General Ahmad Usman Javed on the festival arrangements.
Bilal Yasin said preparations are underway to turn Basant into a major cultural event for citizens. He said flowers, kites, lights and colorful cultural displays will enhance the city’s beauty, while special floats and exhibitions will be placed at different locations.
He said Lahore’s historic culture and heritage will be the main theme of the festival. Proposals have also been sought for a grand cultural event in the Walled City, he added.
The minister said traditional food stalls featuring Lahori cuisine will be set up, while musicians and artists will perform live for the public.
He said the goal of the festival is to revive Lahore’s cultural vibrancy and offer residents healthy, quality entertainment. The PHA will carry out beautification work across the city.
