Electricity Bills to Rise Again This Month

Electricity consumers will pay an additional Rs. 1.11 per unit in their October 2026 bills under a fuel cost adjustment approved by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) for electricity consumed in August.

Nepra approved a fuel cost adjustment of Rs. 1.1086 per kilowatt-hour, below the Rs. 1.7267 per unit initially requested by the Central Power Purchasing Agency-Guarantee.

The regulator said the adjustment reflects the difference between the actual fuel cost of Rs. 8.2084 per unit and the reference fuel cost of Rs. 7.0998 per unit.

The additional charge will apply to consumers served by ex-Wapda distribution companies and K-Electric across all categories, except lifeline consumers, electric vehicle charging stations, and prepaid electricity consumers who opted for prepaid tariffs. The adjustment will also apply to electricity consumed under the incremental consumption package.

The charge will appear in October 2026 bills and will be calculated based on electricity consumed in August. If bills are issued before the decision is formally notified, the adjustment may be included in the following month’s bills.
