Data Darbar Cleric Found Guilty of Stealing Donation Money

Punjab’s Auqaf Department has demoted former Data Darbar khateeb Mufti Muhammad Ramzan Sialvi after a departmental inquiry found allegations of financial misconduct, embezzlement, and forgery against him to be proven.

However, the department’s statement did not specify whether the embezzled funds came from donations.

According to an Auqaf Department spokesperson, the inquiry was conducted under the Punjab Employees Efficiency, Discipline and Accountability (PEEDA) Act. The department has ordered the recovery of more than Rs. 2.658 million from Sialvi.

As part of the disciplinary action, his service grade has been reduced from BS-19 to BS-18 for five years. He has also been barred from postings in Lahore and its surrounding areas during that period.

The department has ordered his appointment as zonal khateeb in Dera Ghazi Khan, moving him away from his former position at the Lahore shrine.

Sialvi has also been prohibited from receiving future postings at any major shrine or mosque. The spokesperson did not specify how long that restriction would remain in place.

The findings were announced following the completion of the departmental inquiry.
