Pakistan Customs has foiled a major attempt to smuggle 35kg of hashish at Islamabad International Airport.
According to customs officials, the operation was launched on the basis of reliable intelligence. During the search of a passenger’s luggage on flight TG-349, 35kg of suspected hashish was recovered.
Officials said the estimated value of the seized drugs is more than Rs660 million. The prohibited substance was immediately taken into customs custody.
Pakistan Customs said an FIR has been registered against the passenger under the relevant legal provisions, while further investigations are under way to determine the source of the drugs and their intended destination.
Customs officials said operations against cross-border smuggling and illegal drug trafficking will continue.
