An Islamabad civil court has issued bailable arrest warrants for the chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) over the authority’s failure to implement a court decree involving affected residents.
Civil Judge Naseerud Din issued the order while hearing a petition seeking execution of the court’s decree. Counsel for the affected residents, Barrister Adil Aziz Qazi and others, told the court that the CDA acquired the petitioners’ houses but failed to provide the benefits promised under its rehabilitation policy for 28 years.
The lawyers said the CDA had not fully implemented the decree and asked the court to ensure its effective execution. They also told the court that the CDA chairman failed to appear despite receiving notices on three consecutive occasions.
The court took note of the continued non-compliance and issued bailable arrest warrants for the CDA chairman. It also directed the relevant authorities to ensure implementation of the decree.
The court warned that further legal action could follow if the authorities failed to comply with its directions.
