Punjab Chief Minister Maryam (CM) Nawaz has ordered authorities to ensure that all Suthra Punjab workers receive their salaries before the 5th of every month, warning of strict action against companies that delay payments.
According to the directives, legal action will be taken immediately against companies that fail to pay workers on time. Following the chief minister’s instructions, payments have already been completed for workers of 149 out of 151 companies operating under the Suthra Punjab program.
CM Maryam Nawaz said delays in salaries, financial irregularities, and negligence in cleaning operations would not be tolerated.
The chief minister also ordered stricter monitoring of Suthra Punjab operations across the province. She directed the MD WASA to spend at least two hours in the field every day, while TMOs and FMOs have been told to visit at least five union councils daily to inspect cleanliness.
She also directed authorities to set key performance indicators (KPIs) for Suthra Punjab MDs, FMOs, and TMOs. Performance reports of Suthra Punjab companies in every city will also be monitored by the chief minister.
Officials showing poor performance will face action, with CM Maryam Nawaz directing that an MD Suthra Punjab with unsatisfactory performance should not be given a posting for the next three years.
The chief minister also took notice of absenteeism among staff and workers in cities and villages and ordered action against those found absent from duty.
She directed officials to ensure regular cleaning of vacant plots, waste enclosures, streets, and roads, along with the repair of damaged walls and doors. Mechanical sweepers must also be kept operational, while desilting work should continue to improve drainage.
Public complaints related to cleanliness must also be addressed without delay.
CM Maryam Nawaz said Suthra Punjab’s cleaning operations should show visible improvement every day, adding that officials and employees cannot simply remain in their offices while drawing salaries and must perform their duties in the field.
