Chinese Company Secures $100 Million N-5 Highway Rehabilitation Project

A Chinese construction company has been selected to rehabilitate sections of the National Highway N-5 in Sindh under a $100 million grant from China.

China State Construction Engineering Corporation Ltd. will carry out the rehabilitation work under a project implemented by the National Highway Authority (NHA).

According to details, the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) approved the project on February 27, 2026. Authorities have now drafted the contract for signing.

The project falls under the Ministry of Communications. It aims to repair damaged sections of the N-5 highway. The highway connects major cities, industrial areas, commercial centres, and agricultural markets across Pakistan.

The rehabilitation work aims to improve road safety and driving conditions. It will also help passenger and freight vehicles move more smoothly.

Officials expect the project to cut vehicle costs and travel delays. Better roads will also improve logistics and strengthen local supply chains.

The $100 million Chinese grant highlights cooperation between Pakistan and China on infrastructure projects.

Improved road connections will support trade, transport, and economic activity in Sindh and other areas along the N-5 highway.
