The government aims to train 1,000 agriculture graduates in China with national priorities by placing greater emphasis on artificial intelligence-driven agriculture, biotechnology, and digital farming technologies.
This was revealed during the 91st meeting of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Projects Review and National Steering Committee, chaired by Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal.
The minister instructed relevant authorities to prepare a comprehensive plan detailing the graduates’ areas of specialization, deployment, and future roles.
He directed officials to focus future training on biotechnology, seed development, high-yield crop varieties, digital extension services, AI-driven agriculture, and cooperative farm management. He also called for a five-year human resource and sectoral development roadmap to ensure future training programs are aligned with Pakistan’s agricultural needs.
The meeting also reviewed broader CPEC 2.0 initiatives, with the minister directing ministries to accelerate implementation of projects under the Growth, Livelihood, Innovation, Green Development, and Regional Connectivity corridors.
The planning minister also reviewed progress on the Karachi Coastal Comprehensive Development Zone, Gwadar power infrastructure, and the Karakoram Highway Phase II project.
