Financing approved under the Prime Minister’s Apna Ghar Program has jumped 245 percent since June 2026 to Rs. 511 billion, according to Advisor to the Finance Minister Khurram Schehzad.
In a post on X, Schehzad said approved financing under the affordable housing scheme had risen from Rs. 148 billion in June to Rs. 511 billion as of October 23, 2026.
Disbursements grew even faster, rising 333 percent from Rs. 21 billion to Rs. 91 billion during the same period.
Approval Rate Rises to 40 Percent
According to the data shared by the advisor, banks have received 217,001 applications under the program so far. Of these, 86,896 applications have been approved, while 15,584 housing loans have been disbursed.
The approval rate has also improved, rising to 40 percent from 28 percent in June, an increase of 12 percentage points.
“More financing. More families closer to owning their homes,” Schehzad said in his post.
Gap Between Approvals and Disbursements
The figures were also discussed at the sixth meeting of the Access to Finance (A2F) Steering Committee, chaired by Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb.
The committee noted the progress in housing finance and discussed steps to speed up disbursements and address housing supply constraints, including financing for builders and under-construction projects.
Despite the faster growth in disbursements, only around 18 percent of the approved financing, Rs. 91 billion out of Rs. 511 billion, has so far reached borrowers.
The program has gained pace in recent months. In August, ProPakistani reported that housing finance had surged 94 percent under the PM loan scheme. The government has set a target of financing 150,000 homes under the scheme by June 2027.
