The Capital Development Authority has ordered a fresh inquiry into the allocation of plots worth approximately Rs. 5 billion following allegations of irregularities in land sharing sectors over the past year.
The inquiry was ordered on the directions of the CDA chairman, with the authority also restricting further transfers of the plots currently under scrutiny. A committee headed by the Member Estate has been formed to examine the allocations.
The committee will review alternative plots allocated in sectors D 13, E 13 and F 13. Sources said more than 360 plots in these sectors were recently allocated through balloting conducted by former Director Land and Deputy Director Land and Rehabilitation Chaudhry Nazir.
According to sources, some cases were processed for plot allocation even though the land claims of certain applicants had not been fully settled. This has raised questions about whether the allocations complied with the required procedures.
An initial inquiry has reportedly identified irregularities in more than 10 plots. Following the preliminary findings, the CDA has informally restricted further transfers of the plots identified during the scrutiny and notified the relevant departments.
The latest inquiry will examine the legality and procedural compliance of the allocations and determine whether additional irregularities occurred in the land sharing sectors. The committee will submit its findings to the competent authority, which will decide on any further action.
