The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has approved a record Rs. 152 billion budget for the fiscal year 2026-27, the largest in the civic agency’s history. The CDA Board approved the budget during a meeting chaired by Chairman Sohail Ashraf, with most of the funds allocated for development projects.
According to the budget documents, the CDA has allocated Rs. 112 billion for new and ongoing development projects, while Rs. 40 billion will cover non-development expenses.
The authority expects to receive Rs. 152.5 billion during the fiscal year. Self-financing, including revenue from the auction of commercial and residential plots and various taxes, will contribute 74% of the receipts, while revenue receipts will account for 19% and the opening balance for 7%.
The CDA has allocated Rs. 55 billion for 26 priority projects and Rs. 16 billion for 63 new projects covering sector development, infrastructure, sewerage and Metrobus-related work. Another Rs. 13.5 billion will go toward 246 ongoing projects, while Rs. 7 billion has been set aside for pending liabilities and Rs. 19 billion for lump-sum provisions.
The CDA’s previous budget stood at Rs. 90.2 billion for 2025-26, making the new budget around 68% higher than the previous year’s initial allocation. The board also approved a four-year contract to outsource garbage collection, waste transportation to the Losar landfill site and cleanliness arrangements across Islamabad.
