Pakistan and Belarus have agreed to promote online business trade in seafood, fruits, vegetables, seeds and dairy products.
The agreement was reached during a meeting between Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain and Belarus Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Yakovchits Aleksander.
The two sides will facilitate online business-to-business sessions to connect companies from both countries and create new commercial opportunities. The targeted products include seafood, citrus fruits, mangoes, fruit puree, potatoes, seeds and dairy products.
Pakistan and Belarus also agreed to encourage companies and other stakeholders to participate in food exhibitions and agricultural trade fairs in both countries. The events are expected to help businesses showcase products, find partners and expand trade.
The two countries will also facilitate visits by agricultural business and trade delegations to explore partnerships, investment opportunities and technical cooperation.
The discussions also covered cooperation in fish farming, with both sides agreeing to exchange technology, expertise and best practices to develop modern aquaculture.
Pakistan also proposed establishing an agricultural machinery testing center at the Pakistan Agricultural Research Council with financial and technical support from Belarus. The two sides agreed to assess the proposal, including the required equipment and potential locations.
Technical expert groups from both countries are expected to exchange visits by the end of 2026 as part of the assessment.
Rana Tanveer said Pakistan wanted to turn cooperation with Belarus into concrete commercial and technological opportunities for businesses, farmers and investors, particularly in agriculture and food security.
