Bannu and DI Khan Boards Postpone Matric Exams

The Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) in Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan have postponed matriculation examination papers scheduled for October 7–10 amid communication service disruptions and security concerns.

BISE Bannu’s decision covers the SSC Annual-II and Oriental Languages Examination 2026 papers scheduled for those four days. It applies to Bannu, Lakki Marwat, and North Waziristan.

In a notification issued on October 3, the board cited the prevailing security situation and suspension of mobile phone and internet services within its jurisdiction.

It said the shutdown could disrupt the delivery of roll numbers, duty letters, and other examination-related information to students, teachers, and supervisory staff. Dispatching examination stationery to centers could also be affected.

The board warned that these circumstances could hinder the smooth and transparent conduct of examinations.

All remaining BISE Bannu papers will proceed according to the existing date sheet. New dates for the postponed papers will be announced separately.

The board directed institutions, examination staff, and other stakeholders to promptly communicate the decision to candidates.

Meanwhile, BISE Dera Ismail Khan has also postponed matriculation examinations originally scheduled for October 7–10 because of suspended mobile phone services.

Controller Examinations Qaiser Anwar said examinations would now begin on October 12.

The postponements come as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa faces ongoing security challenges, with recent militant incidents and intelligence-based operations reported in Bannu.
