The Sariab-Kuchlak Railway Project in Balochistan has been completed at a cost of Rs. 3 billion within 120 days.
Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi announced the completion of the project in a post on X, saying a new chapter in railway travel in Balochistan was about to begin.
The project was completed through cooperation between Pakistan Railways and the Government of Balochistan.
Under the project, 32 kilometers of railway track between Sariab and Kuchlak were upgraded and rehabilitated. Work was also carried out to strengthen and protect railway track embankments.
New turntables were constructed, installed and commissioned at Sariab and Kuchlak railway stations.
Sariab Railway Station has been upgraded with improved passenger facilities, while Kuchlak Railway Station has also received modern facilities.
The project further included the upgradation of Sheikh Mandah Railway Station and construction and improvement work at Beleli Railway Station.
G.O.R Halt Railway Station was reconstructed, with solarization and electrical work also completed. New furniture and benches were installed for passengers.
Quetta Railway Station was also upgraded, while construction and finishing work was carried out at Lori Kraz Halt Railway Station.
Hanif Abbasi said the Jinnah Peoples Train would soon operate on the newly upgraded route, offering improved travel facilities and better connectivity to people in Balochistan.
He said Pakistan Railways would continue efforts to restore and modernize railway infrastructure across the province.
