Uzbekistan has confirmed that it has become the second foreign country to operate China’s J-10CE fighter jets, marking another milestone for Beijing’s growing military aircraft exports and expanding its presence in the Central Asian defense market.
Reports had previously indicated that Uzbekistan ordered 24 J-10CEs, although neither Beijing nor Tashkent confirmed the deal. However, footage released by the Uzbek president’s office on Friday showed at least six of the fighters during independence day celebrations.

The footage showed the aircraft on the runway, flying in formation and receiving a traditional water-cannon salute. Uzbekistan’s Defense Ministry later released an official video of the jets on Sunday, with state television also broadcasting the footage.
The ministry described the aircraft as “modern fighter aircraft guarding our air borders.” China has been promoting the single-engine, multirole J-10CE for international sales, with Bangladesh recently confirming that it was close to reaching a deal to purchase the fighters.
Pakistan became the first foreign operator of the J-10CE. The aircraft played a prominent role during last year’s brief conflict between Pakistan and India. The J-10CE features an electronically scanned array radar, modern electronic warfare systems and data links.
The fighter can conduct both air-to-air combat and strike missions. Its air-to-air weapons include the PL-10 short-range missile and the PL-15E radar-guided missile, which can engage targets beyond visual range.
