FIA Seals Counterfeit Medicine Factory in Islamabad

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Anti-Corruption Circle in Islamabad has sealed an illegal pharmaceutical storage and production facility in Rawat, G.T. Road, as part of a crackdown on counterfeit and substandard medicines.

According to the FIA, the raid led to the recovery of a large quantity of spurious and adulterated medicines, pharmaceutical raw materials, packaging supplies, and production machinery.

The seized stock included 14,961 tablets, 500 injections, 20,900 syrup bottles of different brands, and 4,630 tubes of cream.

Officials also recovered 1.5 million empty hard gelatin capsule shells, 66,258 empty bottles, and 1,072 kilograms of raw materials. These included active pharmaceutical ingredients, nutraceutical raw materials, excipients, packaging materials, and physician samples.

Manufacturing and packaging machinery was also found at the facility, along with packaged antibiotics and injectable formulations.
