16-Hour Gas Loadshedding Reportedly Expected in Winter
Domestic consumers may face gas loadshedding this winter because demand exceeds supply, with a proposed schedule limiting gas supply to just eight hours in each 24-hour period.
According to sources, the Ministry of Petroleum has completed its work on winter gas supply, and it will soon present the matter to the prime minister.
Sources said that under the proposed schedule, domestic consumers will receive gas during breakfast, afternoon, and dinner times, while supply is likely to be affected during the remaining hours.
Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) and Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) will issue separate schedules for their respective regions.
According to available data, SNGPL is currently supplying 487 million cubic feet of gas daily to domestic consumers, while Sui Southern is supplying 286 million cubic feet daily to domestic consumers.
Meanwhile, alongside fears of limited gas supply in winter, the rise in LPG prices could also become a matter of concern for consumers.
However, no official announcement has yet been made regarding final approval and implementation of the proposed gas supply schedule.
