Pakistan Set Unwanted ODI Record Against Sri Lanka
Pakistan registered an unwanted record after being bowled out for just 110 against Sri Lanka in the fifth match of the ODI tri-series at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.
The total was Pakistan’s second-lowest in ODIs at the venue and their lowest while batting first.
After opting to bat, Pakistan suffered an early collapse as Fakhar Zaman (5), Maaz Sadaqat (8), and Saad Baig (5) were dismissed inside the first seven overs.
Babar Azam and Salman Ali Agha attempted to rebuild the innings, but Agha fell for nine before Babar was dismissed for 29 off 33 balls, leaving Pakistan struggling at 61-5 in 13.1 overs.
Shadab Khan, who scored his maiden ODI century against England in the previous match, managed just two runs. Arafat Minhas contributed 10, while Hasan Nawaz scored 17 as Pakistan continued to lose wickets at regular intervals.
Captain Shaheen Afridi provided some late resistance, hitting two sixes in his 15-run knock to take Pakistan past the 100-run mark. However, Dilshan Madushanka dismissed him to wrap up the innings at 110 in 25.3 overs.
Madushanka led Sri Lanka’s bowling attack with impressive figures of 5-34, while Sahan Arachchige claimed two wickets. Asitha Fernando, Eshan Malinga, and Dunith Wellalage picked up one each.
Pakistan’s previous lowest ODI total at Gaddafi Stadium was 75, also recorded against Sri Lanka in 2009.
