Court Extends Remand in $126 Million US Postage Fraud Case
A judicial magistrate on Monday extended the physical remand of a suspect in an alleged Rs. 35 billion fraud involving the online sale of counterfeit US postage labels and granted initial remand to another suspect.
The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) produced Faheem Akram before Magistrate Naeem Wattoo after his previous five-day remand expired. The agency also presented recently arrested co-suspect Naeem for the first time. The court granted physical remand of both suspects until October 30.
The NCCIA alleges that Akram operated LabelsBank.com from August 2023 and used the website to sell counterfeit US postage labels. The agency claims the platform sold more than five million fake labels.
According to the US Department of Justice, a federal grand jury in Florida indicted Akram in September 2026 over the alleged sale of more than 5.1 million counterfeit postage labels, which prosecutors say caused losses exceeding $126 million to the US Postal Service.
US prosecutors allege the website sold the labels for about $2 each, regardless of a package’s weight, size or destination. A US court order authorized the seizure and shutdown of the website.
