Punjab to Ban Vaping and E-Cigarettes
The Punjab government has prepared a plan to legislate against the use of vapes and e-cigarettes, with a province-wide ban under consideration to protect the younger generation from vaping addiction.
According to sources, the proposed legislation will be discussed with relevant departments, including police, the health department and district administration, while strict restrictions on the sale, use and promotion of vapes are being considered.
Officials said a proposal to introduce a comprehensive legal framework to prevent the buying and selling of vapes is also under consideration. Once the legislation is complete, the proposed ban will be enforced across Punjab.
The proposed law aims to prevent minors from accessing nicotine products, while a mechanism for action and punishments against violators will also be devised.
Sources said coordination between relevant institutions has already begun for the effective enforcement of the potential ban on vapes.
