The Islamabad Traffic Police has announced road closures and traffic diversions for October 24 and 25, 2026, with the road from Rawal Dam Chowk to Kashmir Chowk and the route from Serena Hotel to Kashmir Chowk set to remain completely closed.
The police have advised commuters to use alternative routes and allow an additional 20 to 25 minutes for their journeys to avoid inconvenience.
Alternative Routes
- G-5, Secretariat and Serena Hotel to Rawalpindi: Commuters should use Srinagar Highway and Ninth Avenue, or Srinagar Highway and Mehrabad Peshawar Road. They can also return via the Lake View U-turn and use Murree Road or Club Road.
- Rawal Dam Chowk, Park Road and Lehtrar Road: Use Srinagar Highway, Seventh Avenue, Shakarparian Road, Tulip Hotel and Rawal Dam Road.
- Murree and Bhara Kahu: Use Faizabad, Faisal Avenue, Zero Point, the Srinagar Highway underpass, Jinnah Square and Koriyanwala Chowk to reach Bhara Kahu and Murree.
- Rawalpindi to Islamabad: Use Ninth Avenue, Faqir Aipee Road and Srinagar Highway.
- Park Road and Lehtrar Road to Islamabad: Use Tulip Hotel Road, Garden Avenue, Shakarparian Road and Seventh Avenue.
The traffic police warned that the diversions could disrupt traffic flow on surrounding roads. Officers will remain deployed to assist commuters, while further updates will be broadcast on Islamabad Traffic Police FM 92.4.
