foodpanda Integrates AI-Powered Telematics to Elevate Road Safety for Delivery Riders
foodpanda, Pakistan’s leading food delivery and quick-commerce platform, has launched an advanced telematics-driven Rider Safety feature within its rider mobile application. Developed in collaboration with global behavioural intelligence provider Sentiance, the feature gives delivery riders clear visibility into their driving behaviour, empowering them with personalised safety insights and actionable coaching.
The technology uses Sentiance’s mobile SDK embedded directly within the foodpanda rider app. Using the on-device edge computing to process raw smartphone motion sensors, such as GPS, accelerometer, and gyroscope data, locally on the rider’s phone, the app evaluates driving patterns during active shifts. On-device processing guarantees strict data privacy, minimal battery consumption, and zero manual effort required from riders while on the road.

Inside the app’s dedicated Safety Center, riders can access processed insights, including a personalised “Safe Trip Rate” and tailored safety recommendations designed to encourage defensive driving, reduce road risks, and encourage long term fleet safety. Through these insights, foodpanda identifies delivery partners with lower safety scores to provide them with guidance, helping them progressively improve their driving habits.
Importantly, the telematics safety score is purely educational and supportive. The score carries no automated implications for rider performance metrics, order batching, or earnings, ensuring a constructive environment focused entirely on driver self-awareness and accident prevention.

“The physical safety and wellbeing of our delivery partners is a top priority for foodpanda,” said Ahsan Malik, Director Logistics foodpanda Pakistan. “By integrating Sentiance’s behavioral intelligence into our rider app, we are converting everyday smartphones into proactive safety tools. Closing the feedback loop between how riders go through urban traffic and the insights they receive allows us to create a stronger safety culture across Pakistan’s roads, without placing any administrative or financial pressure on our fleet.”
The rollout of telematics-based safety coaching reinforces foodpanda’s commitment to rider welfare and fleet resilience, utilizing Delivery Hero’s global technology scale to set new safety standards across Pakistan’s quick-commerce sector.
