Former adult film actress Lana Rhoades has said the industry is made up of “a bunch of really young girls” and that for producers, “the younger the better.” She said she looked “like a little kid” when she started, and “that’s what sells.”
In a video clip shared by RT on X, Rhoades said that when the camera was behind her and her face was out of view, she would be “gagging or crying.” She said she was “disgusted” by some of the co-stars she had to work with since performers “don’t get to choose.”
She said some of the scenes she filmed felt like assault to her, because she did not want to be doing them but stayed silent to appear professional.
Says the Industry Favors Very Young Women
She added that many women, including her friends, do not feel comfortable saying no.
She linked this to girls being raised to be obedient, and said many feel pressured by agents who do not necessarily have their best interests in mind.
A Short Career and Years of Criticism
Rhoades, whose real name is Amara Maple, entered the adult industry in 2016 at the age of 19 and left after about eight months. She has since become one of its most vocal critics.
On her 3 Girls 1 Kitchen podcast, she previously said that three to five scenes were “really traumatic” for her and were the main reason she quit. She has also said she would delete her old videos if she could, but she has no rights to many of them.
The debate around adult content has also reached Pakistan, where the PTA has reported over 20 million daily attempts to access porn websites. Elsewhere, Ukraine is considering legalizing adult content creation to raise money for its war with Russia.
