PIA Finalizes New CEO Pending Formalities

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has reportedly finalized Adrian Hamilton-Manns, former chief executive officer of Oman-based SalamAir, as its new CEO. According to Samaa TV, the appointment is subject to pending clearance and other formalities.

Hamilton-Manns, a New Zealand-born aviation executive, led SalamAir from July 2024 until September 2026. Before joining the Omani airline, he served as CEO of FlyArystan, a low-cost carrier based in Kazakhstan.

His experience includes managing airline operations and commercial aviation businesses.

His appointment comes as PIA moves forward with its post-privatization transformation. An Arif Habib-led consortium took management control of the national carrier in June 2026, following the completion of the privatization process.

The airline had previously considered former Ethiopian Airlines CEO Tewolde Gebremariam for its top position. The Arif Habib-led consortium reportedly selected him for the role, but his appointment never materialized.

In July 2026, Air India announced Gebremariam’s appointment as its CEO, ending speculation about his possible move to PIA.
