Breaking: FBR to Extend 2026 Tax Return Deadline

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) will announce another extension for the filing of income tax returns for the tax year 2026, sources told ProPakistani a short while ago.

The official notification will be released soon.

This is the 2nd time this year that the return filing deadline will be extended following requests from various trade bodies and the tax bar associations.

Taxpayers faced slowdowns, glitches, bugs and problems while submitting returns. The IRIS portal has time and again failed to properly accept returns in the past few weeks for many individuals.

The Pakistan Tax Bar Association (PTBA) earlier urged FBR to extend the deadline till December 2 because of persistent glitches in the IRIS portal, errors in return forms and problems with the minimum tax calculation formula.

6.9 million tax returns have been filed so far.

More to follow.
