Govt Plans to Share Everything

The Pakistan Digital Authority (PDA) has proposed a new data-sharing framework to connect government departments and make it easier for public institutions to exchange information.

According to a PDA document, the proposed federated data architecture would link existing government systems through common standards, allowing institutions to share relevant information without transferring all data to a single central system.

The approach is intended to address fragmented data systems and limited coordination between government entities. Better connectivity could help departments access information held by other institutions, reduce duplication and improve administrative processes and public-sector decision-making.

The framework also emphasizes data governance, including clear rules for data access, ownership, security and accountability. Participating institutions would need to adopt compatible technical standards and coordinate their procedures for sharing and using information.

The proposed architecture forms part of broader efforts to develop digital public infrastructure and improve government data management. Its implementation would require participating institutions to align their systems and establish appropriate data-sharing arrangements.

The PDA document outlines the proposed framework but does not indicate that the system has already been implemented across government entities.
