Pakistan to Sign Visa-Free Agreement With Another Country

Pakistan and Ethiopia have reviewed progress on a proposed visa exemption agreement for diplomatic and official passport holders as part of efforts to strengthen bilateral ties.

The agreement was discussed during a meeting between Federal Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan and Ethiopian Ambassador Oumer Hussein Oba.

The proposed exemption is limited to diplomatic and official passports, rather than ordinary passport holders. No signing date was announced.

Rana Ihsan Afzal, Commerce Secretary Jawad Paul, and other senior officials also attended the meeting.

Kamal urged Ethiopia to facilitate access for Pakistani pharmaceutical companies and resolve obstacles affecting medicine registration. He said Pakistan’s pharmaceutical industry had significant potential to export to African markets.

The Ethiopian ambassador said he had raised pending registration cases with the relevant authorities, who had assured him that the issues would be addressed.

Commerce Secretary Jawad Paul emphasized the need for an Ethiopian technical team to visit Pakistan soon to inspect and assess pharmaceutical companies.

Both sides agreed to work toward removing trade barriers, strengthening connections, and maintaining close coordination between the relevant institutions. They also discussed Ethiopia’s accession process to the World Trade Organization.
