India is Treating Starlink Like Pakistan

Elon Musk has ‘begged’ Indian billionaire Mukesh Ambani to allow Starlink to launch in India’s internet market.

In a post on X on Friday, he called Ambani the ‘real boss of India’ and apologized sarcastically for failing to realize it.

“Please accept my humble apologies for not realizing that you are the real boss of India,” Musk wrote.

He then asked Ambani to consider allowing Starlink to compete, despite what Musk described as his preference for maintaining a monopoly.

“Naturally, you would prefer to maintain your monopolistic exploitation of the great people of India, but would you nonetheless consider allowing Starlink to compete?” he said.

Musk argued that satellite internet could help people in areas without reliable internet access, giving children better educational opportunities and allowing small businesses to sell their products to international customers.

“Also, Starlink has proven to be essential for saving lives during natural disasters throughout the world, when all other communications systems have failed, so you would also be helping save men, women and children throughout India,” he added.

This follows Musk’s earlier criticism of regulatory hurdles delaying Starlink’s commercial launch in India. He previously questioned whether Ambani was the real power behind the company’s prolonged wait for approval.

Ambani’s Reliance Industries owns Jio, one of India’s largest telecom operators and a major player in the country’s internet market.

The Indian government has rejected Musk’s allegations that powerful business interests are blocking Starlink to protect existing operators.

Can you guess another country struggling to launch Starlink despite regulatory approvals? Comments.
