IPO Filing Reveals How Much Anthropic CEO Earned Last Year
Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei earned $18 million in 2025, according to the company’s confidential IPO prospectus seen by Reuters.
Most of his compensation came from stock and options rather than salary.
Amodei and his sister, Anthropic President Daniela Amodei, each had their annual salaries doubled to $1.4 million in July. Daniela received total compensation of $16.4 million for 2025.
More Stock Awards Planned
Anthropic’s board has also committed to granting both executives additional restricted stock units this year.
Some of those shares depend on the executives remaining with the company, while others are tied to Anthropic’s planned stock market listing.
| Executive | 2025 Compensation / Salary |
|---|---|
| Dario Amodei | $18 million total compensation |
| Daniela Amodei | $16.4 million total compensation |
| Krishna Rao | $720,250 salary |
The prospectus states that Krishna Rao, who joined Anthropic in 2024, will receive a salary of $720,250 for 2025.
Rao was previously granted options covering 1.4 million shares and exercised options valued at $385,285 the previous year.
Anthropic did not comment on the figures when contacted by Reuters.
Anthropic Could Seek a Valuation Above $2 Trillion
Anthropic could go public as early as this autumn at a valuation exceeding $2 trillion, according to the prospectus.
The company confidentially submitted its application for the listing in June.
Amodei’s annual compensation remains within the wide range seen among major technology executives.
Oracle co-CEO Clayton Magouyrk earned $627.5 million in 2025, while Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai received $10.9 million, much of which covered personal security. Amazon CEO Andy Jassy earned $2.1 million.
However, annual compensation does not reflect much of the wealth held by founders and executives through company shares.
Using the US Securities and Exchange Commission’s “compensation actually paid” measure, which accounts for changes in the value of unvested stock, Pichai received $213.9 million, while Jassy received $13.2 million.
Equilar research director Courtney Yu said founders often do not need large annual salaries because much of their wealth is already held in equity.
Founders Pledge Most Shares to Charity
The prospectus does not disclose the ownership percentages of Anthropic’s founders.
However, Amodei and Anthropic’s other six co-founders committed to donating 80% of their personal Anthropic shares to charity.
The compensation details emerged during a week in which AI researcher Yann LeCun also described Amodei as “deluded.”
