Pakistan is preparing a comprehensive plan to manage gas supplies during the upcoming winter as the government moves to take early measures to address seasonal demand.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday directed the authorities to finalize a comprehensive gas load management plan and take necessary steps in advance.
A meeting chaired by the prime minister reviewed preparations for managing gas supplies during the winter season.
Officials briefed the meeting on measures being taken ahead of the expected increase in demand. The government will launch a public awareness campaign to encourage households to use alternative energy sources instead of locally produced gas.
The government is also taking steps to ensure uninterrupted transmission of gas from reserves located in the northern areas of the country.
A proposal to provide bank financing for electric appliances used for water and space heating is also under consideration.
