Study in Switzerland as a Pakistani Student and Get CHF 1,600 Monthly Stipend

Pakistani students planning to pursue a Master’s degree in Switzerland can apply for the UNIL Master’s Scholarship 2027 at the University of Lausanne.

The scholarship is available to outstanding international students who have completed their previous university studies outside Switzerland. Selected students receive CHF 1,600 per month for the minimum statutory duration of their Master’s program.

Recipients also receive an exemption from standard course registration fees. However, they must continue to pay CHF 80 per semester, and the university notes that the monthly scholarship does not cover the full cost of living in Switzerland. What Does the Scholarship Cover

Selected students receive CHF 1,600 per month for the minimum statutory duration of their chosen Master’s degree. The University of Lausanne also exempts scholarship recipients from standard course registration fees.

Recipients must still pay the required CHF 80 semester fee. The university makes clear that the scholarship does not cover the entire cost of living in Switzerland.

Students should therefore plan for any additional accommodation, food, transport, insurance, and personal expenses that exceed the scholarship amount.

How Many Scholarships Are Available

The University of Lausanne awards around 10 Master’s scholarships each year. The university uses a competitive selection process and targets international students with particularly strong academic records.

Receiving admission to an eligible Master’s program does not automatically guarantee a scholarship.

Who Can Apply

International students who completed their previous university studies outside Switzerland can apply. Pakistani students are therefore eligible if they meet the university’s academic and admission requirements.

Applicants must hold a foreign university degree that UNIL considers equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Lausanne.

Candidates must also demonstrate particularly strong academic performance and satisfy the admission requirements of their chosen Master’s degree.

Academic Requirements

Applicants need a strong academic record from their previous university studies. UNIL considers academic excellence when selecting scholarship recipients.

Candidates must also hold a qualification that the university recognises as equivalent to the degree required for entry into the selected Master’s program.

Applicants should check the specific academic prerequisites of their chosen course before applying, as requirements can vary between faculties and programs.

Language Requirements

Applicants must meet the language requirements of their chosen Master’s degree. For programs taught in French, candidates generally need strong French-language skills. Students applying to English-taught programs must demonstrate the required level of English.

UNIL expects applicants to have at least C1-level proficiency in the language of instruction where required.

Individual Master’s programs may set their own accepted tests or minimum scores, so applicants should check the requirements of the degree they plan to pursue.

Which Master’s Programs Are Eligible

The scholarship applies to most Master’s degrees offered by the University of Lausanne, but some programs are excluded. Applicants should check that their intended degree qualifies before starting the application.

Programs excluded from the scholarship include certain degrees in medicine, education, sports education, health sciences, sustainable management and technology, human taphonomy, continuing education, and some Master of Law programs.

Two Recommendation Letters Required

Applicants need two recommendation letters as part of the scholarship application. After completing the online registration process, candidates must ask their referees to send the recommendation letters directly to the University of Lausanne.

Applicants should contact their referees early enough to ensure that the university receives the letters before the deadline.

Documents Required

Candidates should prepare their academic and supporting documents before beginning the application. These generally include their university degree or proof of expected completion, academic transcripts, identification documents, CV, motivation-related materials, and other documents requested by UNIL.

Applicants must also arrange for two recommendation letters. All documents should meet the university’s formatting, translation, and certification requirements where applicable.

How to Apply

Applicants must complete the UNIL Master’s Scholarship application online. The scholarship application also serves as the application for admission to the selected Master’s program.

Candidates therefore do not need to file a separate regular application with the university’s Admissions Office for the same degree.

Applicants should complete the online form, select an eligible Master’s program, and upload all required academic and supporting documents.

After completing the online registration, candidates must ask their two referees to send their recommendation letters directly to the University of Lausanne.

Applicants should carefully review their documents before submission because incomplete applications may not proceed to the selection stage.
