Pharmacy Services Formally Begin in Islamabad
Pharmacy services have officially begun in Islamabad, with the ICT TGR Rules notifying pharmacists’ professional responsibilities and job descriptions.
The move marks a significant step toward strengthening pharmacy practice and patient safety in the capital.
According to an official of the Pakistan Pharmacists Association for Islamabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, the notification formally recognizes pharmacy services as part of pharmacists’ defined professional responsibilities. It provides a framework for their practical implementation.
The Pharmacy Services and Drug Control unit in ICT has expressed its commitment to implementing the services effectively to improve public health, patient safety and the quality of healthcare delivery.
The development is expected to give pharmacists a clearly defined role within the healthcare system and enable them to contribute more effectively to the safe, rational and quality use of medicines.
It will also help integrate pharmacists as active members of healthcare teams and strengthen medicine-related services for patients.
The official said the practical implementation of pharmacy services is an important step toward improving medication safety and ensuring better healthcare services for the public.
