Who Can Apply?

For automatic eligibility to apply for the Witt University Fellows Program, students need at least a 3.5 high school GPA. They must also have a minimum ACT score of 32 or an SAT score of 1420.
Students with an ACT score of at least 29 or an SAT score of 1330 may still apply through another route. In this case, they need an endorsement from a high school representative or a University of Alabama faculty member.
Applicants must also qualify for admission to the University of Alabama Honors College. Students should complete the Honors College requirements along with the Witt University Fellows application.
English Language Requirements
International students must meet the University of Alabama’s English proficiency requirements. The university accepts several tests, including IELTS, PTE Academic, Duolingo English Test, and TOEFL.
Applicants can meet the requirement with an IELTS score of at least 6.0, a PTE Academic score of 54, or a Duolingo English Test score of 110.
Students planning to use TOEFL should check the university’s latest score requirements before applying.
Selection Process
The University of Alabama considers more than academic scores when selecting students for the Witt University Fellows Program. The selection process also looks at leadership, community involvement, extracurricular activities, essays, creativity, achievements, and personal development.
Selected applicants may move through semifinalist and finalist stages before the university chooses the University Fellows cohort.
The university then selects seven Academic Elite Scholars and one Top Academic Elite Scholar from this group.
How to Apply for University of Alabama Scholarship
Pakistani students must first submit an undergraduate admission application to the University of Alabama. After securing admission, eligible students can complete the separate application for the Dr. Robert E. Witt University Fellows Program.
Applicants should also complete the Honors College application and any required scholarship forms. Students seeking scholarship consideration for Fall 2027 should complete the relevant university requirements before the scholarship priority deadline of December 4, 2026.
The Witt University Fellows Program application has a separate deadline of December 8, 2026. Students should start the admission process early so they have enough time to complete all scholarship requirements.
