Pakistan to Export More Rice to Malaysia

Pakistan has secured an additional export allocation of 70,000 metric tons of rice for Malaysia for October to December 2026, following diplomatic and trade efforts directed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, the additional rice exports were secured through coordinated efforts by relevant ministries and authorities.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed the development and appreciated the officials involved in securing the additional export opportunity, calling it an important step for farmers and the national economy.

The Prime Minister particularly appreciated the efforts of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, the ministers for National Food Security and Research and Commerce, and the secretaries of Commerce and National Food Security and Research.

Shehbaz said increasing access to international markets for Pakistani agricultural commodities remains a key government priority.

He added that the government would continue working toward export-led economic growth through sustained diplomatic and trade engagement.
