All branches of commercial banks will observe extended working hours until 10 PM on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, to facilitate over-the-counter payment of government duties and taxes.
The decision was taken at the request of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to help taxpayers meet their payment obligations.
Banks have also been advised to keep relevant branches open on September 30 for as long as necessary to facilitate special clearing of government transactions conducted by the National Institutional Facilitation Technologies (NIFT).
Commercial banks have further been directed to ensure uninterrupted availability of digital payment channels, including internet banking, mobile applications, ATMs and other online platforms.
The arrangements are intended to facilitate both over-the-counter and digital payment of government duties and taxes on September 30.
