Zong recorded Pakistan’s fastest national 4G download and upload speeds in the second quarter of 2026, according to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority’s (PTA) latest Mobile Network Experience Benchmarking Report.
Jazz ranked second in both download and upload speeds, while Ufone led the national mobile gaming category. The report was based on independent measurements collected by Opensignal over 90 days.
The benchmarking covered Jazz, Telenor, Ufone and Zong across Pakistan and 20 cities. It assessed download speed, upload speed, video experience, games experience and time on network.
4G
Zong recorded an average national 4G download speed of 18.55 Mbps, followed by Jazz at 17.61 Mbps, Ufone at 12.82 Mbps and Telenor at 7.5 Mbps.
Zong also topped 4G upload speeds at 7.81 Mbps. Jazz followed at 6.26 Mbps, Ufone at 4.42 Mbps and Telenor at 2.82 Mbps.
Video Experience
For video experience, Zong scored 41.66 out of 100, narrowly ahead of Jazz at 41.51. Ufone led games experience with 50.08 points, followed by Zong at 47.28.
Zong also recorded the highest time on network at 96.59 percent. Jazz stood at 93.33 percent, Telenor at 92.58 percent and Ufone at 92.16 percent.
The report showed a national average 4G download speed of 18.9 Mbps across all devices, rising to 31.3 Mbps on high-end devices. Average 4G upload speed stood at 5.32 Mbps.
The national 4G video experience score was 37.53 out of 100, while games experience stood at 43.85. Users remained connected to a mobile data network for an average of 93.67 percent of the time.
5G
The report also assessed 5G performance but PTA cautioned that 5G deployment was still at an early stage.
Limited coverage and a small user base meant the 5G results should be treated as indicative rather than a conclusive measure of nationwide performance.
City-Wise Result
City-level results varied significantly. Zong led all five measured categories in Lahore and Multan, while Jazz led download and video experience in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
In Karachi, Zong led download, upload and time on network; Jazz topped video experience and Ufone led gaming.
Zong also led all five categories in Gujranwala and Sialkot. In Hyderabad, Jazz narrowly led Zong in download speed, with scores of 18.54 Mbps and 18.46 Mbps, respectively.
In Mirpur, Skardu and Muzaffarabad, where SCO also operates, Zong recorded the fastest download speeds at 19.06 Mbps, 14.76 Mbps and 14.7 Mbps respectively.
PTA said the measurements were collected from real smartphone users across indoor and outdoor locations and during busy and off-peak periods.
The methodology was different from PTA’s controlled quality-of-service surveys and drive tests, meaning the results may differ from those assessments.
