The Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) has announced a symbolic strike at clinics and private hospitals on September 30 in protest against the Federal Board of Revenue’s (FBR) measures regarding the implementation of Point of Sale (POS) systems.
The PMA has also announced a national convention in Gujrat on October 11 to discuss and oppose the FBR’s actions affecting private medical facilities.
PMA’s central office has directed its provincial and district-level organizations to prepare for the September 30 symbolic strike.
PMA Central General Secretary Dr. Kamran Ahmed issued a letter to all provincial and district organizations, instructing them to make necessary arrangements for the protest.
The association has also called on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to take notice of the FBR’s measures against private clinics and hospitals.
The PMA maintains that the government should review the measures being introduced for medical facilities and address the concerns of doctors and private healthcare providers.
