Iran proposed a seven-day plan to end the war, reopen Strait of Hormuz and return to peaceful negotiations over its nuclear program.
Trump confirmed on Saturday that he had rejected Iran’s proposal.
Trump has told aides that he expects to resume a bombing campaign after the November elections.
Some officials were quoted during various sessions of the United Nations General Assembly in New York that the scale of future strikes remains unclear and that Trump’s position won’t change without Israel’s permission.
Iran says it is seeking a diplomatic solution and has been waiting for Washington’s response to its proposed roadmap.
