Punjab has decided to provide body cameras to drug inspectors in an effort to improve monitoring and address complaints more effectively.
The decision was taken during the 303rd meeting of the Quality Control Board, chaired by Provincial Minister for Health and Population Khawaja Imran Nazir.
The meeting was attended by Special Secretary Capt. (Retd.) Muhammad Aurangzeb, Additional Secretary Qalandar Khan, Additional Secretary Drugs Muhammad Sohail, Director General Health Dr. Moez, the Director General Drug Controller, and representatives of pharmaceutical companies.
During the meeting, the minister said that stronger monitoring requires a stronger system, adding that body cameras could help authorities resolve complaints in a timely manner.
He also reviewed the implementation of decisions taken during the previous meeting and directed officials to maintain a zero-tolerance policy against quacks and those involved in the production of fake and substandard medicines.
The minister further instructed authorities to ensure strict compliance with quality control regulations at pharmaceutical companies and to continuously share reports of enforcement actions with the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP).
He reiterated that no compromise would be made on the quality of medicines.
