People applying for driving licenses in Lahore can now get medical fitness certificates free of cost at 13 government hospitals, Chief Traffic Officer Lahore Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi said on Friday.
The authorities have established free medical counters at the designated hospitals to facilitate applicants seeking the certificates.
The counters are available at DHQ Mian Mir Hospital, DHQ Mozang, General Hospital Ghaziabad, Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Sabzazar, Government Hospital Samanabad, Government General Hospital Qila Gujjar Singh and Government General Hospital Shahdara.
Other designated facilities include Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Bilal Ganj, Government Hospital Sodiwal, Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Kahna, Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Raiwind, and Government Eye and General Hospital Swami Nagar, Shalimar.
Shirazi said medical fitness certificates are mandatory for applicants seeking commercial driving licenses and people over 50.
Under the proposed system, hospitals will upload the certificates directly to the Health Department’s portal. Shirazi said the system will make verification easier and help prevent fraudulent certificates.
