The Capital Development Authority’s (CDA) Development Working Party (DWP) has approved several new development projects in Islamabad, including the Rs. 24.5 billion 11th Avenue project and three sports arenas in F-8, D-12, and G-11.
The DWP approved the PC-I for the 7.5-kilometer 11th Avenue, which will connect Margalla Avenue with IJP Road. The road will have three lanes on each side and is expected to be completed within one year after construction begins.
According to officials from the CDA’s engineering wing, the project will also include around 17 bridges and overpasses.
Under the planned alignment, the avenue will start from IJP Road and pass between I-10 and I-11, G-10, G-11, F-10, and F-11 before reaching the E-11 interchange. The section between E-11 and D-12 has already been completed and is known as Iran Avenue.
The DWP also approved nearly Rs. 1 billion for the construction of three sports arenas in different parts of the capital.
The F-8 Markaz sports arena will cost Rs. 307 million, while Rs. 327 million has been approved for the D-12/1 facility and Rs. 317 million for the proposed arena in G-11/3.
The facilities will include swimming pools, indoor gyms, futsal courts, cricket cages, padel courts, basketball courts, multi-sports halls, and indoor play areas for children. The projects are also expected to be completed within one year after work begins.
A CDA official said the arenas were needed because sports facilities in Islamabad are currently scattered and access to quality indoor facilities remains limited.
The official said the projects would bring several modern sports facilities together at single locations, providing opportunities for healthy activities, family recreation, and youth coaching.
