Date Confirmed for Restrictions on Mobile and Internet Services in 2 Punjab Districts
The Punjab Home Department has requested the federal government to downgrade mobile and internet services at specified locations in Rawalpindi and Attock from September 27 to maintain law and order.
The department sent a letter to the Federal Ministry of Interior seeking 2G, 3G and 4G network jamming at specified locations in Rawalpindi district. It also requested the downgrading of mobile and internet services in specified areas of Attock.
The request also covers several locations along the motorway, including Brahma Bahtar, Gunjo, Ahatta, Taxila City, Wah Sadar, Thallian and Chakri.
According to the Punjab Home Department spokesperson, police requested the measures to maintain law and order and protect the lives and property of citizens. The department said the proposed service restrictions will take effect from September 27 at the specified locations.
The Punjab government said protecting the lives and property of citizens remains its top priority.
