The federal government has appointed Hamza Farooq as the first Chairman of the Pakistan Climate Change Authority after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif approved his appointment.
The Establishment Division has issued a notification confirming Farooq’s appointment for a two-year term.
Farooq has studied at Oxford University, Stanford University and William & Mary. He previously served as a Vice President at Goldman Sachs and has also run two startups.
The appointment marks the formal establishment of the leadership of the Pakistan Climate Change Authority, which will be responsible for coordinating the country’s response to climate change.
