The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has recovered more than 2,490 kanals of state land in Islamabad as part of a major anti-encroachment drive.
The operation targeted illegal occupation, unauthorized construction and commercial use of government land across the capital.
The recovered land includes more than 1,400 kanals in areas including the former Muslim Colony, over 712 kanals recovered during an earlier phase, and another 320 kanals in Saidpur and areas around the National Park.
CDA said the recovered land is worth billions of rupees. It added that notices were issued to occupants and required legal procedures were completed before the operations.
Satellite-based mapping and digital maps were used to identify the boundaries of state and National Park land.
In Sector E-12, CDA recovered around 290 kanals from illegal occupation and unauthorized use. This included nearly 16 kanals of CDA land in E-12/2 where private security accommodation, a holiday home and 14 rented shops had been established.
The authority said possession of the land was restored to CDA after reviewing records and completing legal and administrative procedures, allowing development work to resume.
CDA has also started sealing and regulatory action against unauthorized buildings along the Islamabad Expressway Service Road East.
Meanwhile, anti-encroachment operations in the greenbelts of H-9 and I-9 removed several illegal structures, including shops, temporary hotels, rooms, tandoors, washrooms, marble stalls, containers, sheds and a service station.
CDA said it will use drones, digital mapping and Google Earth monitoring to prevent encroachments from returning to the recovered land.
