Daanish University in Islamabad is set to formally begin its first academic session on September 20, 2027, as work on the new institution moves forward.
The university’s campus building is expected to be completed next year. Before regular classes begin, a preparatory bridge program will be held from August 10 to September 14, 2027.
The timeline was shared during a high-level review meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday to assess progress on the establishment of the university.
Officials informed the meeting that the recruitment process for highly qualified faculty members is currently underway, with 185 applications received so far.
A nationwide talent hunt has also been launched for students currently in the second year of F.Sc. and A-Levels for Daanish University’s Virtual School. Selected students will receive five months of classes completely free of charge.
An entry test for the Virtual School will be held on October 24, 2026, in more than 40 cities across the country.
Daanish University will initially offer disciplines including bioengineering, electrical engineering, artificial intelligence, computer science, technology, and social sciences.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the university was expected to emerge as a regional center of excellence in technology due to its academic, research, and technical infrastructure.
He said providing quality, modern, and merit-based education to deserving and talented young people remained a government priority.
He added that the university would offer education of international standards, with admissions conducted strictly on merit and talented students selected from across Pakistan.
