The Suthra Punjab Contractors Association in Muzaffargarh has announced a strike and suspension of cleaning operations from September 17 over non-payment of dues for the past six months.
Provincial General Secretary Soheil Soharani said the government has not cleared billions of rupees in dues for machinery used in sanitation work across 21 tehsils of South Punjab.
He said the Suthra Punjab administration and local authorities had repeatedly promised payments, but they have not released any funds so far.
Soharani warned that the contractors will not allow the machinery to be used until the dues are paid.
The association said it will stop the cleaning operation from September 17 if the outstanding payments are not cleared.
