China will help Pakistan establish a state-of-the-art law enforcement center equipped with artificial intelligence-based technology, according to an official statement issued on Wednesday.
The agreement was reached during a meeting between Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and visiting Chinese Vice Minister for Public Security Gao Qi in Islamabad.
Cooperation on Terrorism and Drug Trafficking
The two sides discussed expanding cooperation to tackle terrorism and drug trafficking, according to Pakistan’s Interior Ministry.
Pakistan and China also agreed to expand their police training exchange program.
The two countries will further cooperate on the latest law enforcement technology and equipment.
China Praises Pakistan’s Counterterrorism Efforts
Gao Qi praised Pakistan’s sacrifices and resolve in the fight against terrorism.
Naqvi said the new law enforcement center would serve as another symbol of Pakistan-China friendship.
He added that Chinese AI-based technology and equipment could prove highly useful in addressing Pakistan’s security challenges.
