Samsung is reportedly considering a price increase for the Galaxy S26 series, around seven months after the phones went on sale.
The company is reviewing possible adjustments to prices for devices that are already available, although no final decision has been made and Samsung has not officially confirmed how large any increase could be.
South Korea Could See a $110 Increase
Reports from South Korea suggest Samsung could introduce a uniform price increase of around 149,600 won, or roughly $110 to $111, per model.
If approved, the new prices could take effect from October 1.
That would make the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra more expensive in Samsung’s home market.
Samsung has reportedly confirmed that it is internally reviewing smartphone pricing because of rising component costs, while stressing that no final decision has been made.
Apple Has Already Raised Prices
Samsung would not be the only major smartphone brand adjusting prices after launch.
At its September 9, 2026 event, Apple discontinued the iPhone 17 Pro models and increased prices for the remaining iPhone 17, iPhone Air, iPhone 17e and iPhone 16 models.
The new iPhone 18 Pro models also launched at prices that are $100 higher than their predecessors.
Reports had already suggested that Samsung could launch the future Galaxy S27 series at higher prices than the current generation.
Memory Prices Are Driving Costs Higher
The main reason behind the pressure is the sharp increase in memory chip prices.
Smartphone memory costs reportedly increased by more than 80% in the second quarter compared with the previous quarter, while some estimates put them at around 300% higher than a year earlier.
Memory has now become the most expensive component in smartphone production, overtaking even the processor.
Samsung’s mobile division posted an operating loss of around 700 billion won in the second quarter and reportedly paid about 211% more for mobile memory during the first half of the year compared with the same period a year earlier.
Existing Phones Could Also Get More Expensive
Smartphone manufacturers normally pass higher component costs to customers when they launch new models.
However, the current rise in memory prices is reportedly forcing several brands to consider raising prices on phones that are already on the market.
Samsung has not yet decided whether it will move forward with the Galaxy S26 price increase or whether similar adjustments would apply outside South Korea.
For now, the company is weighing whether to continue absorbing the higher component costs or increase retail prices for its current flagship phones.
