Punjab Announces Deadline for Vehicles to Get Fitness Certificates

Vehicle owners across Punjab have been given 30 days to obtain valid vehicle fitness certificates as authorities prepare to begin enforcement against vehicles operating without the required certification.

The Punjab Provincial Transport Authority has advised all vehicle owners to visit their nearest Provincial Vehicle Inspection and Certification System (PVICS) Centre and complete the fitness certification process before the deadline.

The authority has announced that legal action will begin from October 15 against vehicles found without a valid fitness certificate. Such vehicles could face heavy fines and other penalties under the enforcement measures.

The authority has urged vehicle owners not to wait until the final deadline and to obtain their certificates as soon as possible. The PVICS fitness certification process assesses important aspects of a vehicle, including safety, emissions and roadworthiness.

Authorities are encouraging owners to ensure their vehicles meet the required standards before the enforcement deadline. The new enforcement drive comes as Punjab continues efforts to improve vehicle safety and control emissions, with authorities warning owners that vehicles without valid fitness certificates will face action once enforcement begins on October 15.
