The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to replace the number plates of all vehicles across the province with new plates featuring Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology.
According to the Excise Department, the new number plates will include RFID stickers to improve vehicle identification and tracking. The new system will apply to both government-owned and privately owned vehicles.
Officials said the provincial government currently issues standard vehicle number plates for Rs. 1,200. However, the new RFID-enabled number plates will cost Rs. 4,000.
The Excise Department said the RFID stickers will allow authorities to identify and track vehicles more efficiently, helping improve monitoring and enforcement.
The provincial government has not yet announced a timeline for implementing the new number plate system.
